A Memory

The Night You Came…

I must have sat in the rain for hours... Specs of prickling water seemed to have breathed a new life into my bones. I could feel again.

I held on to the bench so tightly, terrified if I loosen the grip I'd slide and crumble into dust and with me all the memories of you.

Tears and water have blinded me so in the blur of the night I could almost see the image of you laughing and running my way. It all came back to me. I ventured a smile so wide, it shook me to the core.

You ran, you came so close and reached out... Frightened, I held on tighter. You were right there...How could I not give you my hand, how could I not embrace you?

Nothing else mattered but the fragment of time between us, fragment filled with eternity built brick by brick out of nothing more than hopes.

I reached out... just enough to feel your fingers on my wrists, but you pulled away. Long headlights in the distance illuminated the sandy path and there was really nothing, there was no one before me. Anymore.

You were gone, swept up by the blazing light to distant world of my dreams. Once again, among stars is where I'll find you. Floating clouds will reveal the light of your eyes and the wind will carry rich melody of your laughter, forever captured in my memory.
