About
Hello,
Life truly is an unpredictable journey. It is an adventure of cosmic greatness, a wonderful “parentheses in eternity” as the late Dr. Wayne Dyer would remind us.
My name is Maida. I was born by a river, fearless, daring, running like a green vein through a land galloped over by more history and drenched by more blood than its narrow shoulders should be able to endure. But they have.
Country of my birth and childhood crumbled into fragments when I was 13 years old and I spent majority of my teen years in a bloody ethnic conflict. In 1996 my family took refuge in the United States to start a brand new life in the culture and in the language we didn’t understand.
One would think I had collected enough stories to tell for two lifetimes but there was more... In 2009 I was diagnosed with brain cancer. Just as it seemed that everything was falling into place, about two months after I got married, excruciating headache brought me to the ER. It was an incredibly difficult and frightening experience, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The path to overcoming the illness taught me more about life, love and myself than any experience before. In many ways, this is when I started to grow and wake up.
Today and through all the life’s swings and turns, writing my way to peace and love remains my biggest joy and salvation. My friend, love is our essence and our truth. It is the only authentic power we have. Love is our source and all of us are always connected to it and through it to each other.
I believe that no matter how much we stray from or fight it, life will find ways to remind us that we are all more alike than we are different, we are all more connected than we are separate. This reality is my biggest inspiration to write, communicate and share. I hope you find some spark of inspiration to share with me too.
Thank you,
Maida
